FUN MONDAY - FALL

Hoosier Girl wants that we show or tell what we love about fall - images, smells, sights, activities

The answer is I don't love anything in fall ! I hate this cold, humid smell in the mornings, the trees which start to striptease and the sidewalks and gardens full of brown and yellow leaves.

From my teenage years on since my early 50th I always suffered from automn depressions, without knowing it. At that time depressions were not well known. So I only have bad souvenirs of all falls in my life. I just would have liked to fall asleep in September and wake up in March, like the bears. Now since around 10 years these seasonal depressions have disappeared, but I still don't like automn although I move around and am active now. I can even appreciate the colors of the trees in a park or wood, before they rot.

I wished that after summer we could have winter immediately or summer and spring the whole year. I am probably born on the wrong side of the world !

Therefore I don't have any fall pictures to show. Besides the fact that this year all trees are still green, which is quite exceptional I don't have any from last year either. Fall just doesn't inspire me !

my cat Arthur apparently doesn't like it either, I wanted to take a "fall" picture of him and you see he fell.

But I saw this nicely decorated house yesterday when I visited my friend Ilona.

  2. Up until a few years ago I was just like you!! I could not stand fall. We lived in a house surrounded by big trees ans a wood across the street, and the minute I saw a leaf turning yellow, even if it was only mid august, sadness kicked in. I could never enjoy the beauty of Fall, because I just could not see it! I'm glad that's over, since I started to take photo's I can enjoy bhe beauty of all seasons now! But I still prefer Spring and Summer. Let's move to Hawaii eh?

  3. I've heard of people getting seasonal depression, it must have been miserable. Down here in Brisbane there is very little difference between Spring and Autumn. Our trees don't loose their leaves and it doesn't get very cold. Further south they get Fall.

  4. I have always liked the fall, but tend to feel sad once the holidays are over with and don't cheer up much until the snow goes away and it starts to smell like spring. I do have a lot of Fun planning for the holidays, though. Glad your SAD has taken a hiatus, I hope it is for good!

  5. Sounds like you have had severe cases of SAD most of your life. Lightbox therapy can help. Much of my family in the UK has the same problem.

I would love to live somewhere north, but my husband is the same as you. It's not so bad for him living in Florida, so here we stay.

  6. I don't really get into fall either - more than I do WINTER though! If it's not snowing I HATE winter! And we don't often get snow... But I could handle just spring and summer, spring and summer. I do like the fall/winter foods though! The breads and soups and casseroles...Pumpkin anything!

  7. The way you feel about fall is how I feel about our winters here. It is cold and gray and dreary for months. We are fortunate to be able to escape the harhness of the winters here and go south. We stay for 3 months where the sun shines most of the time and the temps don't get to much below the 60's during the daytime. Life is good to us in our retirement.

  11. I actually have two "real life" friends who suffer from SAD--Seasonal Affective Disorder. One has actually tried light therapy. This same friend also has a real germ phobia and hates shaking hands and coming in contact with people. Tough because she was a lobbyist for our company--she'd shake hands and then sneak out the sanitizer. The other friend just went in a funk and slept too much!

In your house it would be hard to get too depressed with Arthur the Comic around. I'm sure he's worth many laughs a day!

  13. Well you got one Fall picture.
I dislike Fall because it is the gateway to Winter which I hate.

  15. I would like to chase spring around the globe, too. (Actually I think I'd have to go north and then south. Now thats somethng I get lost in thought about. Why is it that when we head north, eventually we will head south again... whereas if you head east you will never quit heading east.?)

  16. Here it seems we are still in summer. They speak about rain for tomorrow. We will see if tV is right! Most of the time it is 23/24° inside when temperature is more 30° under the sun outside. So I have forgot to speak about automn to my pupils. Aujourd'hui je suis allée à l'institut de beauté pour un soin du visage!!! C'est vraiment sympa!!! Je me sens toute belle!!! Faut dire qu'on a super rigolé avec l'esthéticienne!
