This strand cabine was at the seafront of Eastbourne. It showed how the Victorian ladies were carried into the sea so that nobody could see them in a bathing suit.
I guess they were a LOT more modest than now days. I thought it looked like the child catches cart from the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang..Staring Dick VanDyke. I love the bright colors in the cart.
This is wonderful, Gattina! It's always so great to see things from the 'long ago', and to hear how things were done then. Was it put into and out of the water by horses?
Thank goodness it has got wheels on it... Wouldn't want it to float out to sea while inside changing :P hahaha
