GOOD BYE PALM TREES AND PANCAKES

For my last day of holidays in Ollioules (French Riviera) I just wanted to go to the seafront in Sanaray. I loved this place for its beautiful little old houses along the seafront and of course the palm trees !

The winter had been unusually cold up to - 10 °C (13 F) which hadn't happened in ages, and some of the palms were damaged by the frost as most palms grow in the tropics. But now they are recovering (hopefully) in the warm sunshine.

Under the palms youngsters were playing handball while others walked along the seafront. One of a sick palm had been cut into a rather strange shape.

We choose a little Snack restaurant were you had an enormous choice of pancakes, sweet or salty. I personally prefer them salty. We could sit outside in the sun and ordered our "crèpes", that's the name of the French pancakes. They have another shape than the once in the States or in the UK. They are very thin and rolled around the filling.

I had one with mushed eggplants and goat cheese. It was delicious.

I made a little collage of the French pancakes, as you can see they are served with salmon, goat cheese and vegetables, chicken or bacon.

After lunch and a little walk we went visiting Claudie's sister in law just for a short visit.

To end the day, we spent the afternoon shopping, I helped Claudie to choose curtains and other little things for the new house.

Now I am back home and was welcomed by a heavy rain and 4°C (39 F) !

  1. What beautiful pictures of different pancakes you took!!! The house is empty this morning! But Pedro arrived and decided to take his snack inside!!!! Pierre pasted the paper on the window of the bathroom yesterday and laid the curtains in the toilets too! What nice and cheap shopping we did together!!!

  6. I love crepes When I was little I was quite adept at making them every morning. My parents had breakfast in bed. My treat. I have yet to receive any such treat from any of my boys. Kids are just not the same anymore.

  8. Oh me too, me too! What stunning pictures, I think I can even feel that wind too. Those crepes are just too yummy looking, (I am really getting far too hungry here by these great food photo posts) What a fun and exciting looking place, with the best blue water just to scoop it all up.

  9. Gattina : when Tatty was a kitten, (his eyes just opened when we got him.) He was extremely ugly and dirty lol
I would never have taken him when there were so many beautiful, long haired kittens and they were probably all put down cause they did that back then. Now maybe they still do but don't tell the public. We get outraged to hear such things. They make everything so expensive today to keep animals.
The food alone is costly. If you have to pay so much, may as well cook an extra portion of people food and feed them.lol

  14. I bet those persons cutting the palm had a joyful time... *giggles*

Oh, the Crepes... or Galettes I think the thin, folded ones are called because, we have a French chef at our summer island that makes them - delicious! I prefer the salty ones too.

  15. The crepes look delicious!
Ollioules looks like a wonderful place to visit. Can't believe it was so cold! Once I was in southern Florida, USA, which is in the tropics. It was so cold it snowed in the upper atmosphere--melted into rain before hitting ground. The tops of the trees froze. rather devastating. But it's the tropics, so the plants recovered relatively quickly.
I do see that crazy palm!

  16. I've never had a crepe and I think I need to rectify that obvious mistake!

These look particularly scrumptious. I like the idea of savory fillings in them!

The shape of that palm tree did make me laugh!

Thanks for letting us tag along on your last days!

    And thanks for linking up.

    A+
