SHOW & TELL FRIDAY

More participants here

This week I am proud to show you my garden. I have to admit that I had never a green thumb. I found gardening rather boring. But since I am blogging and see so many beautiful garden pictures, I suddenly felt inspired and planted for the second time petunias in pots which stand in front of our house and along the entrance during spring and summer. Unfortunately I didn't count with these lovely creatures called snakes !

and that's what they did !

I declared war put a product and collected the corpses. My petunias survived, but became very skinny and now really ugly. So for the 1st of October I decided to replace them with some autumn flower decoration.

I planted decorative cauliflowers and added some pumpkins. This pot stands besides our mail box.

on the little wall besides the house, I put this

and along the entrance to our house these little yellow flowers which will become bigger I hope. I think they are asters, but I am not sure. I bought them because I have been told that they last until frost. Names are not important to me.

My work of course was supervised by my cat Arthur. He loves when people work outside.

  12. Hi Gattina. I haven't visited you in a long time. Saw your link at S & T and decided to drop in for a visit. I love your photos.
I know how those snails can destroy a garden. We had tons of them in California. We don't see them here in Arizona at all. It's too hot for the little critters. I'm glad. They are a real nuisance.

  14. Oh I am sooooooooooo feeling you pain with the snails! I got them one year from pansies I bought from Lowe's. And I have been battling them for about 5 years now. When it rains I go & stomp on the laying out on the sidewalk. "Honey" thinks I'm possesed but, my plants looked like yours & it's not fun. Maybe you ought to have Arthur be on snail patrol. Have a great weekend.

  19. I didn't know there was such a thing as decorative cauliflower! I am not good with the flower names either. I have to take a picture and then show it to somebody who knows if I want to find out.

  20. Yes, I have just bought some mums to put out in the front... and soon pumpkins! Jewl watches over me - and sometimes Freedom. Kitty watches through the window. :) Oh, and Mom watches too!
