Looking through my library to find a special book to show, I found this old family bible. It is dated from 1820 and was in my father's belongings. I found it when he had died. There is his family name in so I suppose it had belonged to his family, but somebody had torn out the pages with all the names of different generations. I just can see a spot of ink on a little piece of the torn out page. I don't know who did it or why, otherwise the bible is still in a very good shape.

at least inside

This little silver cross with zircons was given to me by an Egyptian waitress when we left the hotel in Egypt. When I asked her why, she said that I had always been so kind to her. I was quite surprised I hadn't done anything special. But I found this gesture very touching. A muslim women gives a silver cross to a Christian. I keep it as a souvenir.

That bible is priceless Gattina!! It's ancient. That is one treasure to hold on to and cherish the fact that you now have it, and you know about your family a bit more deeply...the way it's been used heavily through the years. What a great show n tell.

Mine is all about a project I did for fun this week, won't you stop by? Happy Weekend!!!

I love the cross necklace! Wow! That speaks volumes doesn't it?

That's sad about the missing pages from the Bible. I wonder if someone just wanted the "records" section and just ripped them out and just discounted the rest of the Bible? It's wonderful thought that you have it so it can be tr4easured.

When my Great grandmother died she was buried with her father's Bible. We recorded the information about our family and honored her wishes.

What a special Bible. My husband has an old old Bible that belonged to his mother. I'll have to feature it on S & T sometime. How sweet that she gave you the silver cross. I'm sure that was a surprise.
Blessings and hugs,
Charlotte

That gesture from the Egyptian waitress was lovely. It just goes to show that people everywhere, if left alone, would probably get along just fine.

Speaking of which, I tagged you for The Meme of Fives here. I thought it might be fun to send it out of the US, so if you haven't done it, I'd like to see your answers! Of course, feel free to ignore it if you want. Enjoy your day!

What a shame that the family history has been torn out of the Bible, so priceless and a treasure..
I have my Mothers Bible that was presented to her at very young age in sunday school its about 100 years old.if Mum was alive today she would be 108 this year..

That Bible is a priceless treasure in more ways than one. That is so strange that someone tore out the names! That's sad. But I am glad you have the rest of it, the most important part.

What a great old bible Gattina,
sad that the family stuff is not
still inside. Amazing story and
thanks for sharing it with us.
Eqypt, that would be a place I'd
like to see, esp. the pyramids!
Did you see them? I would love
to see the photos if you took
some!
