SHOW & TELL

If you want to use your open fire in Belgium, you have to have the chimney cleaned once a year by an official chimney sweeper who gives you then a certificate that the chimney is clean. Otherwise in case of fire the fire insurance wouldn't pay.

I don't know why I only thought about our open fire in March, had it cleaned

and now we enjoy it again, i.e I enjoy it, Mr. G has his eyes glued on the TV screen !

  2. I live in a flat, so no chance to have a real fire in the house, but I'd love it! I think it gave a new charm to a home.....

  5. That is sooooo niiiice! I love the picture with the wooden cats on top too - the wood of them adds even more warmth to the picture -- NOT that the fire is not warm enough! LOL! It is very cozy!

  6. awww.... how cool!

I used a fireplace for the first time of my life when I was in Melbourne in year 2000 winter.

It was such an unforgettable experience as I come from a country where there is only one season - Summer all year round!

  9. I love an open fire...but it's not cold enough here for them, even in winter. Fires throw out so much heat, my small place would be like hothouse.

But the smell of pine cones burning and also the eucalyptus wood...deliciously fragrant.
