I fell onto my purse and he beat me trying to get it, but finally a man came to my aid with a tire iron and chased him away.
I tried to file a report for the terrible beating I had taken, and the Police looked at me and said, "What's wrong? You still have your purse!"
I now never go back to Miami. That is where it happened and I never felt safe there again.Maribethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17435726542598515305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2857159910102323096.post-91150338778368731232009-09-12T12:25:27.399+02:002009-09-12T12:25:27.399+02:00That really is high class housing? That looks like a 1960s nightmare!

Well I'm glad the bastard didn't get anything else. I won't say anything but probably it was a drug addict. I can't understand what else would drive someone to go out robbing other people rather than earning your own, know what I mean?

It must be a ****er getting a new ID card, surely?

This is the reply I left to your comment at mine:

thank you very much for that inforamtion. I would have got totally lost in the foreignness of it all. I don't know how foreign people survive in Britain. A foreign language is like looking at everything through a dirty window. However marvellous the view, you know it's not as good as it could be without that barrier in the way. Which I suppose is the great motivation of LEARNING the language ... But I don't get how did you learn such good English being in BELGUIM..??Gledwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09308172310486574510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2857159910102323096.post-34773359168764440682009-09-12T10:20:25.132+02:002009-09-12T10:20:25.132+02:00Sorry to hear about this. I had to take the next day off work, borrow $5 from a friend to get into the city to get new credit cards, driver's licence, library card, etc. It took me all day.

I too, made a statement to the police and to this day nothing has ever shown up. I rang immediately and cancelled all my cards, etc. I only had about $12 in my purse, but it wasn't the money, it was the bloody inconvenience!

I'm sorry that happened to you, but at least you still have your life.
