We had German woman - mother of a friend of mine - and she was the cook in my elementary school -- she made the BEST hot lunches! I bought lunch almost every day - and I NEVER complained about school lunch! YUM! I didn't want to leave elementary school. Junior High and High School was not the same. Lunches were okay... but the weren't Mrs. Loll's lunches!Mellihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16266127127286739779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2857159910102323096.post-1767596975686288042010-03-15T23:05:51.954+01:002010-03-15T23:05:51.954+01:00You know... But I have such great respect for people who lived through that era... today I made a big pot of "vegetarian" chili ... 15 bean - but no meat! Amanda was here - and she said YUM - cuz she would like to be a vegetarian! Krysti turned up her nose at it! Derek wouldn't touch it if his life depended on it - and IF Mathew were here, he would eat it but grumble because there's "no meat". Dennis came home from work and said "well... it SMELLS good"... LOL! It was delicious! But we are SO SPOILED that they grumble over a delicious meal because of "no meat"... Sometimes I think we should ALL have to live through post war, or depression era conditions! It builds character! It must - look what a character you are!!! :)Mellihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16266127127286739779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2857159910102323096.post-30662105663602668482010-03-15T18:20:02.955+01:002010-03-15T18:20:02.955+01:00Hmmm... a little extra protein in the beetle sandw...Hmmm... a little extra protein in the beetle sandwich!

My mom used to wrap our sandwiches with wax paper. Do you ever think about how happy your life is now in contrast to childhood? I do and would never want to go back.
