FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE - FIVE ON FRIDAY

1. As it was whit Monday, Waterloo's city center was dead, all shops closed and nobody on the streets. There was nothing going on either. Ilona needed to go out and we went to the old Mont St. Jean Farm, which had once been a Hospital for Wellingtons wounded soldiers 200 years ago.

Behind the farm is L'Orangerie du Prince our favourite place for a drink. There of course it was full, we hardly could find a seat outside with this wonderful view on the open fields.

2. We discovered a "new" (for us) restaurant in Waterloo with a nice terrace outside, the owner is Italian and there were of course a lot of Italian specialities on the menu card. Unfortunately for me, because I eat Italian each day ! But for a drink it was OK !

3. The friendly gardner I had found through the Waterloo Facebook page, came and trimmed everything which had grown so much, and put new bark on the ground. Now the garden looks clean again. The only thing which is missing are the flowers in the pots. The pots are still empty. I decided to put fake flowers in them, it's in front of the house and nobody will noticed the difference when they walk by and I don't have gymnastic to do and climb up the little hill to water the plants. Mr. G. had it done once, with two plants because he hadn't noticed the difference amongst the real once.

Rosie had found a new place

4. We had a terrible storm 90 km/h and all parks and graveyards were closed. There were quite some damages but fortunately not in our area. I don't like this strong wind whistling around the house.
Therefore I couldn't "plant" my flowers and the pots are still empty. Now it rains !

5. After painting class Ilona and I went to our Greek restaurant where we could sit outside then we had a good cup of Espresso here. Ilona went home and I had to go to the groomer with Kim !

Despite the fact that she allows now Mr. G to groom her, there was a huge amount of hairs coming out of her fur ! I am more and more convinced that she had been a sheep in her former life !

  1. Sorry I haven't been in touch lately. As well as the terrorists horrors in London and Manchester, my mum is very ill so I am travelling to Manchester a couple of times a week to see her. Your week is as full as ever. Good to find a new restaurant. Pity it is Italian!

  4. Sorry you've had all that wind. It can get mighty at times and scares us to death. But, we survive and then we get back to normal again. Have a great weekend.

  9. I love your new, neat garden with bark chips. Rosie looks like an ornament there too. I laughed at Mr G watering the fake flowers. Did you mention recently that Kim has become a lot more friendly Not just staying far away from you anymore? Perhaps I have the wrong blogger cat. LOL!

  10. It's nice you have so many restaurants with outside seating and nice views. Fake flowers sound like a good solution for the hard-to-reach planters. It's nice to have a gardener take care of shaping things up outside.

  12. Your kitties are always fun to see-- I didn't realize that cats had to be groomed, too. She must have very long fur.
Your outings for coffee make me want to join you! I think I'll have to find a place here and enjoy an espresso soon!

  13. I love those kitty shaped flower pots! Rosie blends in very well, haha :-) Being lousy with plants myself, fake flowers sound a great idea :-)

  14. Well at least your flowers will not die while they wait to be 'planted!' I hate wind and it is blowing right now here where we are in EAst Texas. Hot wind. We are in for the evening and I am glad there is decent wi-fi here, because it is not a good night for a walk (even though I need one after driving all day). I mean riding of course. I don't do anything but sit.

  15. We had a crazy wind and rain storm this week too. Pretty scary on our street. Lots of broken trees and the other side of the city had flooding because the storm drains couldn't handle the amount of rain. Glad you all stayed safe.

  16. Restaurants here are so expensive, it's not really worth the trouble of a cup of coffee even!

I think we missed that big storm though, not a peep anywhere, unless it happened on my sick days of course.

  17. Oh my goodness, I barely saw Rosie. She is very well camouflaged.
