THE FIRST SNOW

I had made a whole program for what I would do today, but when I opened the shutters this morning my world was white ! So I thought to stay home this morning and maybe go out this afternoon when the snow is probably gone. It doesn't snow very often in Belgium and seldom a lot but even with a few snowflakes the whole traffic breaks down.

The snow was still untouched, besides a few traces on the street. The truck with the salt hadn't come yet, for our little side street it was too early it was "only" 9.30 am.

The view out of my window while I answer emails

Mr. G.'s car has a white coat

and I can't see my beautiful fake flowers !

There hadn't been not a lot of cars in our street

The view to the left

Our garden, the snow can't be very high, because I can still see the grass a bit

Unfortunately it is very humid and misty

And my cat figurines have a white coat too !

  1. It looks like one of your cats has been frozen on the spot. The snow looks very pretty and not too heavy and deep.

  2. Hi Gattina - it looked cold across the Channel - a thick cloud coating ... and obviously was freezing too ... thankfully that didn't happen here - but there's been a lot of frost. I'm going to Seaford this evening and am glad it's tonight .. it'll have warmed up by then and the skies won't be clear ... hope today is better - cheers Hilary

  3. I love the views of the snow but I suppose it might be a bit difficult to live with. Something I never have to experience.

  4. Cold and frosty here but no snow thankfully. A wise move to stay indoors and just enjoy the pretty views. I hope it doesn't last too long.

  5. I'm surprised to see you have snow. Maybe it will now make its way across the North Sea - these days weather-wise we must expect the unexpected!
    Happy New Year!

  6. I LOVE the way the curtains fall like soft snow and I can't tell if the white cat's real or not.

  7. We had some snow too. I was so happy with it and then it started raining, turning everything to slush. And now it's all gone again.

    *Sigh*

I love snow as long as I do not have to drive in it!

  10. Very pretty. It is supposed to get very cold here this weekend. Some cold weather from Russia is supposed to make it all the way here. We will see.

  11. Snow makes everything look so pretty and peaceful. We do not get much snow here either – our last was 2 years ago. I like your white cat figurine. I hope you’ll get more pretty snow this year.

  12. OH brrrrr. Your pictures are lovely though. Just talked to our daughter and SIL in Oregon and they have snow which is not too common there either. She said it was pretty, but that she'd probably be tired of it by tomorrow.

  13. I love the effect of the fog and the snow, Gattina. The fog adds a magic touch to the snowy scene.
I hope you are well and happy.
    Hugs from here,
