FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE - RANDOM FIVE FRIDAY

1. This week went by like all the others, and started with my aqua gym.

This time I arrived too early and took the opportunity to take some pictures as nobody was around yet. We were only 6, the others were on holidays before the carnival school holidays start, because then everything is more expensive. Those who had booked for ski holidays sat in the mountains without snow, or if there was snow it was so foggy that you couldn't see anything and the ski runs were closed. For the moment we have nice and sunny weather, but it is so windy that it is no pleasure to walk outside.

2. I spent the afternoon with Nicole and we could sit on her terrace which is wind protected and both purred in the sunshine. Unbelievable for February, last year we had snow at this time !

When it got too cold I helped her googeling for dog booties, as Charlie's wound on his paw has to be protected against humidity when he walks outside.

We found some nice once, but before ordering them Nicole first wanted to ask her vet.

3. It was an ideal weather for photo hunting, which I did, making a stock for my different photo themes,

Then I wanted to switch off my camera but I pushed on the wrong button and made some very creative pictures of  Ilona's feet, until I realized that something was wrong.

4. I never buy cut bread because the slices are too thin and I like to toast my bread and therefore need larger slices. So I cut the slices I need with a knife and noticed that it became sometimes a hard job. I thought about buying a bread cutter, but that takes a lot of space and finally a friend told me why didn't I buy an electric knife ?

I thought it's an excellent idea, went off and bought one.

Now I don't need the forces of a lumberjack  but can cut my bread with elegance !

5. I have started a new painting in my painting class and while I painted with energy and temperament an abstract painting, I used the opportunity, not on purpose of course, to paint my neighbor's jeans and painting at the same time. Now she suggested that I should come with an umbrella to protect her from my spatters. We also had a lot of conversations, about Hashish smoking grandchildren, lazy husbands, back and hip problems, etc. It's always good to listen to other people's problems.

  2. Back in SA we use an electric knife (similar to yours in the photo) to cut our whole bread. I also dislike sliced bread for the same reason: the slices are too thin for toast! Here we have to put up with thin slices. Luckily Grant eats the white bread. I manually cut my own home-baked brown bread. I hope the vet OK's Charlie's bootees! Have a great day. Jo

  3. I bought an electric knife in London in 1972 and it still works perfectly.
I also use it to cut foam when I recover chairs as well as for meat and bread.
Do you mean you smoke hashish to improve your art work? Well done.

  4. My neighbor came back from ski with a broken knee! She must stay 8 weeks without moovng! Better staying home than falling in the mountains! Charlie looks very nice! You are a real artist! You choose new frames for your paintings! We shouldn't have visit the Richard Nonas exhibition! Since this date you wants to experiment new way! Hi!Hi!

  5. Sounds like a fun week :) I've missed my hydrotherapy - pool cleaning one week, physio off the next(!) - hopefully this week I'll be back in the water!
Glad the electric knife is a success :)
Great Random 5 and have a happy Friday!

  8. Funny your mention electric knives, as tonight I asked my partner whether the electric knife worked ok for him when slicing meat. I only slice bread with it and it is old and I thought maybe we need a new and more powerful one, but he said no. It is ok.

  9. A bread slicer that is the ticket! We can ask at the bakers to slice it thick or thin. Painting your neighbours jeans ...ooops

  10. You've been busy. Aqua gym ... good for you. Doesn't the sun feel good?!! Poor Charlie and did she order boots for him? Funny "selfie". My Mother had an electric knife -- wonder where it went?!!! Happy Friday! Enjoy your painting.

  11. Great randomness this week. I can see where dog booties would be a bonus for Charlie. Poor baby.

  12. My mother, God rest her soul, used to have an electric knife. I buy the kind already sliced or ask the bakery girl to do it.....they will do it for free at the grocery store here. Your gym looks wonderful and yay for you having sunshine in Feb!! We have the sun this week but bitter cold temperatures! Am hoping March will start to bring warm winds!! Have a good weekend!

  13. Hi Gattina, I completely agree with unsliced bread. I always buy it unsliced. One year I won a bread knife at some sort of kitchen giftware show and use that to slice the bread with. If it ever got lost I don't know what I would do...lol. It's been weird weather both here in Vancouver...snow...and in our place in Oxfordshire...floods like crazy. What do you think that's all about? Global warming? Well, it certainly looks like March is coming in like a lion. Hopefully the old saying will stay true. Have a lovely, lovely weekend and I hope you got some fantastic photos. :)

  16. I'm glad you had such great weather this week!

We have an electric knife that we love to use on the turkey at Thanksgiving. I don't usually get unsliced bread, but it sounds like it would be great for that.

  17. Using an electric knife to cut your bread is genius! :)

  18. I never buy uncut bread because I usually end up either squishing the bread or else the slice is good on top but then gets progressively skinnier on the bottom of the slice. I can never get it quite straight. Never thought of using an electric knife.

Love the "creative" pics of your friend's feet! LOL.
