FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE - RANDOM 5 FRIDAY

1. After Aqua Gym on Monday where everybody left well equipped with bras and underpants and nobody missed anything, I went to "Tom & Co" which is a food store for animals. I needed cat food for my always hungry cat family.

The star of the shop is Cookie the parrot. He likes to chat and I too, so first thing was to say hello to him. We chatted for a while, he says all kind of funny words, and when I left he whistled behind me like men do when they see an attractive woman. I thought, how times have changed, in the past men whistled behind me and now a parrot. That's life !

2. I always complain about the wet and rainy weather we have in Belgium. In fact my blog should be completely wet. To comfort myself I just took my car and went to my favorite Indian store

and you can see it here when I arrived.

I bought this little case for my new camera and was happy that the elephant and my camera had the same color. Sometimes little things can make your day.

3. I had moved my desk from behind my bed to the window and was quite satisfied with the result. It made my room bigger. But still it didn't look as I would have wanted. The little table I had put on my desk so that the screen was at eye level, disturbed me.

before                                                                      after

and then suddenly I had an idea ! why didn't I put my chair lower ? I only had to pull on the level ! I did ! Now it looks much better and I also can observe what is going on in the street, some kind of neighbor watch ! When I think that it took me only 6 years to find out that I only had to  adjust my desk chair !

4. To free Mr. G. of my constant presence (the life of a retired couple) I escaped to my friend Ilona. There we chatted about forthcoming holidays together, and the world in general. We also talked about the French president's love affair and found ridiculous what a mess the press tried to make about it. After all he is not married and even if he were, what have politics to do with his private life ? Nobody has first ladies here in Europe, and in Belgium it would even be rather funny we would have a first Sir, as our prime minister is homosexual. Nobody cares, he is an excellent politician and that is what counts. Fortunately that was the opinion of the French too.

5. We had a visit from a photographer of the local Newspaper in our painting class, who took picture of us while we were busy painting our master pieces ! I was just busy to finish mine,

and when I took this picture I didn't realize that behind my painting was a shopping bag with an advertising of a "Domestic Art" exhibition, which is not at all the same as it was all about food !

In the afternoon I drove my neighbor to the hospital to Brussels,  where she got her monthly shot in one eye, as usual it was hard to find a parking space and we arrived rather wet !

  2. I don't think men are allowed to whistle at attractive women in these politically correct times. Parrots will soon be re-educated too.
The French president is on the news here but I thought all French people had affairs so what is new?
    (Sorry French people)

  9. I didn't read all of #1 and was a bit shocked to see the parrot photo right under the words *cat food*!! When I read the rest, it made me giggle. :-) Love the Indian camera bag and your work space looks very cheery.

  12. Gattina -- your weeks always make me smile (in spite of the rain... I went through many years of rainy winters when we lived in Oregon, so I know how you get tired of that).

I hope you can link from this comment... I sure didn't mean to join that crazy gooble + or whatever it's called. I was commenting the other day using my IPAd; that might have created the problem. I hope this works.

  13. I love European politics, never a dull moment. The French presidents are always entertaining and what about the Italian one, Berlusconi really had entertainment value and lets not talk about the Russian lot. Happy wet weekend.

  14. I sure wonder what the people in Europe have to say about our politics. It's a never ending drama that's for sure.

Sorry that you got wet but at least the rain does stop and the sun will come out. Eventually.

  15. I love the colors on your painting! Lovely. :o)

Your little office nook is so sweet. So nice to be able to gaze out the window while you sit at the computer.

  16. We've been having lots of rain here too - which is a little break from all the snow but nearly as photogenic!

Smart move with the chair - too bad it took 6 years :)

    Your painting is very peaceful.

    Happy weekend!

  17. I had to smile at your little exchange with the parrot. And also with your chair solution. Sounds totally like me! Sometimes the answer is right in front of me and I can't see it for looking. You are so right in that sometimes it is small things that bring joy to our day!

  18. Parrots can be quite entertaining. The media tries to make much out of every little thing, or they are out of business. Sadly, they have a following that eats it up. That's a cute little bag your found for your camera, and yes, sometimes simple things bring so much pleasure.

  19. People always seem so pre-occupied with things that have nothing to do with the subject. Like the French presidents' lovelife! However, there are plenty of people who find that more interesting than politics...

  20. I'm sorry for your rain, rain, rain--the little blue elephant would cheer up any rain soaked person.
Your weekly classes sound very inticing--aqua-gym and painting are both excellent.

  21. What a thoughtful and faithful friend you are, Gattina, to take your friend for her monthly eye shot.

Sorry it has been so rainy for you. We are supposed to be in our rainy season but we are now officially having a drought.

It really is about the little things bringing us happiness: everyone having their own pants, a chair moved down, finding a camera bag the same colour as the camera.

I hope this week is filled with lots of lovely little things too.
