I would never have guessed correctly. My answer would have been small plant pots or bottles removed from the snow.

Cats in the snow! I remeber our cats when they first went out to explore the snow. They took one step and then shook a paw and took gingerly the next step. It was very funny to see them so carefully walking in the garden.
