We used to have taverns but after womens lib they were changed to pubs where every one could enter. I guess playing cards is fine if you don't gamble No different from chess people play in parks.
Oh, that reminds me of when I was younger and the whole family would be at my grandparents' farm. All the women would be in the kitchen fixing meals, washing up or just drinking sherry and chatting, while all the men would be in the good room (only used on Sundays or when the vicar came round) playing cards.

Beer on tap on a Sunday morning? I wish I could convince my friends to do that :)
That is like in Switzerland. Do women play too?
Great time pass.
I love the iron grillwork on the windows - Beautiful!
Happy Wordless Wednesday!

A nice way to warm up on a cool day :) Great pics!
It looks welcoming and relaxing.
I can't imagine any cafe in the UK allowing their customers to play cards on the premises.

Souvenirs souvenirs!!! Like those tavern!!!
It looks like a pleasant way to spend a Sunday.
I just read that drinking beer is very good for the brain. I’ll try to remember to drink at least two beers a week – I could use it!
And I always though cafe meant coffee or a restaurant where coffee is served. Cool grill work and reflections in the window.
At least the ladies know where their husbands are. ha ha.
What an interesting-looking place! I like the ironwork - am I seeing the word "restaurant" spelled out?
Thanks for your visit and comment on my WW post. :-)
