MY WORLD - Waterloo

more participants here

For the moment there is not very much going on in my world.

This was my street two days ago, but now the snow has melted completely and the snowmen are gone.

The Waterloo Lion place which is always full of tourists even when the weather is bad, now just after the holidays didn't have a lot of visitors. The parking has a lot of holes and probably needs to be redone.

Waterloo on a Sunday looks very empty. The shops are closed and only a few people are underway. This is the main street, usually so busy that it is impossible to take pictures.

During the week it's far more busy.

Not very far from Waterloo, there are floods. Due to the heavy rain and the melting snow, the rivers went out of their beds. Lots of people had to be evacuated. Firemen bring food to an 80 year old lady who didn't want to leave her house. I took the pictures from the TV screen.

  1. Does look like a cold, quiet winter day -- I know I've had enough of those!! Hope your week is going well -- in spite of the weather!

  2. It's not cold here but wet, wet, wet. So far 9 people have died and 72 are missing and it's still not over. A lot of the city is under water, people are being evacuated and the river is still rising. Apparently tomorrow night is going to be the worst night.

    We can do without this...

  4. Hi Gattina;) looks deserted and wintry there in Waterloo. Hope the sun appears soon. Here in SA when the roads have holes in (called potholes) they erect a sign saying "Potholes" instead of repairing/filling the holes! have a good day. Jo

  5. I could see blue sky in some of your photos. Lucky you! Blimey, floods in Belgium too and it would be cold an wet. At least here it is warm and wet.

  6. Soon the sun will shine again - hard to believe when it's so dreary outside.

  7. Thanks for the pictures of Waterloo.
I will definitely visit your historic community the next time I am in Belgium.

I gather it has been a harsh Winter so far. I hope more normal conditions return and continue.

I hope you have a new year full of delights.

  8. So glad you finally got to see my comments!

Love the blue sky in contrast to the pink building in Waterloo. Must be nice to have the street without cars for one day a week...

  9. So sorry to hear about the flooding. Flooding is almost everywhere right now. Australia is very bad.
I hope no one in Belgium is hurt or killed in them.

  10. Terrible about the floods
My son is stranded with his daughter in the flood in Brisbane. We do not know what is happening out there but pray he is safe.

  12. We have sunshine today but there is still lots of snow, and it is very, very, very cold. -21C but at least there is no wind.
I feel so bad about Queensland being flooded. I hope Belgium doesn't get that bad.
See you in the spring, perhaps.
