FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

more participants at Susanne at Living to tell the Story.

1. As usual during our tea ceremony after acqua gym we had our weekly chat and this time came up how often did we take a bath or showered when we were children. As we all have more or less the same age, not everybody had a bathroom when we were kids, but our kids take showers everyday. So I came up with my question how often should a baby be bathed because apparently it is not good anymore to bath a baby everyday. Of course all grandmas protested and said that this hasn't changed at all and babies should be bathed each day. In our group is a midwife. She is not only a simple midwife but she also gives conferences on meetings from midwive associations from all over Europe. And she answered : it depends the country and the pediatrician. So now I know that Belgian babies are bathed everyday, while other babies are bathed twice a week. As a freshly baked grandma I learn every day.

2. I started working on my "Blog Book" and I have to admit that it takes a lot of time, I am still busy with doing the cover. But as the weather is as usual wet and cold, it's a nice occupation.

3."Sales" are still going on in Belgium until the end of the month, I did a little window shopping, but didn't find anything interesting to buy. What is funny now is, that there are "Sales" on "Sales" ! It gets cheaper and cheaper.

4. We had our "girls" meeting this time at my place and around a cup of Karkade tea (from Egypt) and some cookies we tried to make the world a better place with a lot of laughter.
Mr. G. was "locked in" his office not to disturb, and wondered why he got the impression to hear a bunch of giggling teenagers.

5. Yesterday we celebrated the 81st birthday of a classmate in my painting group ! She had baked a delicious cake and brought 2 bottles of champagne ! I was really surprised that she was already so old, she looks much younger and is full of humor and laughter. The cake and Champagne disappeared in no time and we had a lot of fun too.

I don't know if our paintings turned into modern art after the birthday party !

  1. Wow - cake and champagne sounds like a great way to do art! I've done a group art class in which you're encouraged to bring alcohol and it turned out great!

  2. Your book blog will be most certainly enjoyed -not only - by little Toby when he is an adult :)

I learned from your post that art and champagne keeps one young, happy weekend, I am flying tonight. Leaving at midnight and landing at almost 2pm (all European times)

  4. There sure are a lot of folks celebrating birthdays this week! Just about everyone from FFF I've visited has been to a birthday. I bathed my babies every day. I can't imagine doing it just twice a week. They must have cleaned those poor kids up very well on the off days.

  7. You have the best time with different groups of friends.

My husband promised me to never give advice on potato peeling. He doesn't want to inherit that job.

  8. Perhaps the secret to staying young at 81 is cake and champagne. Hum, I'd have to say being a grandma I'm still learning each day also. I'm not sure what a blog book is. I can't believe the sales are still on this long, I remember your other post - you haven't found a thing. It is nice to be so satisfied as to not have a need for much, makes me smile.

  9. Oh my goodness, I'm amazed your friend baked her own cake at the age of 80! I hope I'm that spry at that age to make my own cake. Good for her.

Sales on sales. Now that is my kind of shopping!

  10. The cake and champagne sound so good :-)
As for bathing babies, I bathed mine every day. Water is a very calming element and necessary, in my view, at the end of the day.

  11. How lovely to celebrate 81 years of life with cake and champagne! That's the way to do it!

Interesting about babies and bathing. I live in a dry climate, so I would often skip a day between baths for my babies, as it dries out the skin so.

    I enjoyed your FFF!

  12. Hmmm, art, champagne and cake~I think I'd like to celebrate my birthday that way too.

Blog book sounds like an interesting project, especially for rainy and dark days.

    Happy weekend!

  14. It's funny how customs change with babies through the years and from place to place. I was told to place each of mine in a different position for sleeping, and they all did fine.

The girls' meeting and birthday celebration sound fun!

  15. Oh how I wish my mother were like this. She goes to bed every night and says, "Please God Take me". When she wakes up the next day she is disappointed and so she sits waiting to die. If anyone speaks to her, she only tells them how much she wishes to be with my father. This is strange because they fought like angry tigers their 60 years of marriage!

  16. It is interesting how bathing frequency varies by culture, and not just baby-bathing, how often adults bath varies by culture as well.
