LAUGHTER THERAPY

Last week we were talking about laughter therapies to make our life better. By curiosity I used my dear friend Google and googled laughter. Of course the first one which drawed my attention was "Laughter tips for relationships". I thought that would be perfect for my 42 year lasting relationship (with the same man).

The program starts early morning ! Each morning we should laugh together for 5 to 10 min. But there is a difficulty, how could we laugh together when I see Mr. G. climbing groaning out of his bed and stumbling over a cat or stepping barefoot in some cat vomit. Of course I have to laugh but he doesn't laugh at all, apparently he has no sense of humor. There must be something wrong with this therapy. Anyway I think it's rather hard to laugh in the morning, especially when you are in a hurry to get to work, have to swallow your coffee in a few seconds and try not to forget half of your things.

Once a day we should point out the day's absurdities to each other. Being a retired couple we live in a 24 h absurdity. It would be easier to point out the normal day happenings.

We also should seek humor together in a serious situation. This will be very easy when one of us drives the car against a tree, of course it is so funny to sit in a car wreck and laughing our heads off.

I should also play "Teasing Telephone Tag" by leaving outrageous messages ! I did this once telling him a tax inspector would come at 10 am, and I will never understand why he didn't laugh at all. Again this therapy hadn't worked.

The nicest tip is to "Practice laughing without control. Spit out food, wet your pants, wet each other's pants" Spit out food in the best restaurant is easy to do but I don't know how I could wet his pants, I would have technical difficulties ! or should I use a water pistol ?

And amongst other tips there also was "count the number of times you laugh each day. Compete and share them". I promise you from tomorrow on I will count ! Maybe I should set up a laughter poll.

  1. You need a laughter time table, with ten minute slots scattered throughout the day, plus extra spaces for serious situations and pant wetting in restaurants. I'm sure that would work perfectly :p No?

  2. I think it's best just to let laughter be spontaneous. Early morning laughter never worked for me - too much chaos in the morning. Funny, I chose laughter as my topic!

  3. Laughter at any time in any form is the best. Some of your suggestions made me laugh - many thanks!

  4. My husband wouldn't be ready to start the day laughing with me. He wouldn't even remember my laughing. Until he drink his first cup of coffee he is in a bed fog.

  5. I love your humor. My husband has the best sense of humor in the middle of the night. The craziest things come out of his mouth, and I find myself cracking up laughing having been in REM sleep 2 seconds earlier. It's fantastic. Have a great day ~ xox Alexandra

  7. We have a friend who was diagnosed with melanoma around 20 years ago. It was really bad, and the surgery was extensive. The doctor told him that he should spend time every day laughing. So he did. He found things to laugh about, and he has been cancer-free ever since!!

  10. yes it's fun to be able to laugh during the day.
The actor Nolte, went to the doctors to lift his balls. He said at a certain age they began to sag and for his movies he needed nice high balls.
So I check my husband to see how his are doing. lol
    Then we laugh.
Then we girls try to figure out peoples personalities and how they relate to their sexual appetites.
Being people watchers we sit at the table in a restaurant and watch how they eat. Some eat with a healthy gusto. So these people should have great gusto in that arena. Others are nibblers and still others like to chew a long time, etc... This makes for a lot of fun when you people watch like that. lol
So have a laugh and enjoy. Life is short.

  13. Oh Gattina, you are a gem for certain.

I hear about this laughter therapy but having Grands in my life always gives me something to chuckle about so I can save the money on that for now.

    Laughter is so important.

This was a great link. I always enjoy seeing what your creative mind has crafted.

    Thank you for linking.

  14. I was laughing at your husband getting out of bed and stepping in cat vomit. Sorry. Hee hee. I don't seem to have a problem laughing. If I get started my husband starts laughing because I am laughing. Of course we both have sick humor. Loved your post Gattina! Merry Christmas!~Ames
