FRIDAY's Fave Five

more participants at Susanne at Living to tell the Story.

1. After a wonderful holiday week at the English coast I am back home in the rain again ! Apparently it had rained the whole week I was away. My cats seemed to be very happy to see me again, only Kim the black one hadn't even noticed my absence.

So now I am at home sweet home and nothing had changed. Not even the grass had grown !

2. We have made quiet a lot of excursions to different places in the area.

in Hastings we visited the Fisher museum, had a walk through the city and my friend bought some T-shirts. I didn't find anything to buy.

2. On Sunday we discovered the Arundel castle , had a little walk around the lake there and

stopped for the traditional tea with scones and clotted cream ! The portion was enormous and delicious !

3. As the weather really seemed to be good the whole day, I went to Eastbourne's beach.

I walked around the pier and sat there for an hour before I had a sandwich at the beach and just did nothing but watching the waves and the people. I even got a little burnt in my face.

4. The last day we met Anne's friends in a Restaurant had a nice meal a lot of laughter and fun and I think we were a very noisy table. Unfortunately we couldn't do our little walk together through Eastbourne, because it was the only day where it rained from morning til evening. Probably the heaven was crying because I had to leave the next day.

5. I left Eastbourne early morning and was in London at 11 am. I left my luggage at the St. Pancras International station, so I could walk around London without my suitcase.

It was nice to see "my" old town again although for the moment it doesn't look very nice because there are construction works and renovations everywhere and no street is without building or street work. It seemed to me like a huge construction site. The city prepares itself for the Olympics in 2012 !

  1. Do you think there's more building work going on than usual here? You'd probably be more qualified than me to say, as you probably go to Central London more frequently than I do!
At one point I used to go every Monday, but that fell by the wayside (quelle surprise!)
But now it's autumn, my favourite time of year. I love the falling leaves, the smell of bonfires and the scent of death in the air.
When I grow up I want to live in a house the size of one of those seafront hotels in Bournemouth. When I was little we went on our hols to Brighton and stayed in a traditional seafront hotel. I'm so glad I did as it was a real experience, and looking back I think it was more fun than I saw it at the time. It was the first holiday with my Dad but without my Mum, after they divorced ~ and so not as "fun" as it could have been. Ho/hum!

  2. ps I did get your reply re the steno, eventually. I only asked bc I'm obsessed with squiggles.

pps which do you think is the most beautiful country out of Germany, Austria, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, France, Monaco, Andorra, Luxembourg, Belgium or the Netherlands?

    Simple question, I know!

  3. I love the photo with the cats laying about. I have never been to a fisherman's museum before and we have so many fishermen on the Island I don't know why someone hasn't got one.

How wonderful to have a cream tea. Oh my did you get to finish all that clotted cream for that one scone. Perhaps I should increase the size of portion I pass out in the tea room a little after seeing this. It does seem like a lot

  4. Hubby was talking about London recently. I think he misses the trips he used to have there when he was still flying as a pilot.

  6. I'm a West Coast of the US girl too, but oh my! how I love the English coast and London! You've made me want to jump on a plane with my passport and visit my favorite holiday place again.

Your kitties are so adorable, too. What fun to have them waiting at home for you to return.

  8. It sounds like you had a wonderful trip and got to try lots of delicious foods along the way as well.

I love the pictures of your cats. We do feel back at home when we see our cats, even if they did not seem to notice that we were gone!

  9. Great pictures. I didn't realize that London was getting the Olympics in 2012. Probably read it somewhere but didn't retain it. It reminds me of all the construction we saw in Vancouver, B.C. though when we visited before their Winter Olympics.

  12. Your cats seem quite happy and the trip to London well ...I guess I have to wait a while before thinking about doing such things. But it is wonderful to be able to do this.

  15. Sounds like it was a lovely holiday, Gattina! My kitty wouldn't come to me the first couple hours I was home. She was quite upset with me that I had left her.
