FUN MONDAY - Toys

Joangee at Musing an Waffle, our host this week asks :

Toys, games and pass-times. If like me you have pets, and/or children which are their favourite toys?

I don't have children anymore playing here around, but I have four cats. Two of them think they are too old to play and they prefer to lay around and sleep. One only plays with real "toys" that means birds and mice. The only once who play in this house is little cat Rosie with her toy mice collection and Mr. G. who plays with the cats.

Here is Rosie with one of her mouse toys

She not only plays with them, but she also collects them during the night wherever she had lost them during the day and puts them neatly around the food bowls

and she loves it to have one inside while she is eating.

one has also to be in the water bowl

Each morning I have this view

Unfortunately it can happen that I find a real one !

I don't know why she is doing this, I have never heard about a cat with such a funny behavor !

  1. That Rosie has to do all the playing since the other cats are too old and dignified. Wouldn't you just love to be able to read her mind and see why she feels she must collect all her mice around the food bowl. Tell Rosie that she could be a bit neater with her dining--lots of kibble outside the bowl. :-)

  2. I was feeding two abandon cats/kittens. They loved chicken and dried food and canned cat food, they didn't like jellied cat food. They didn't even touch them.

  3. Rosie is really cute. I never heard of a cat that does that with toys.

  6. What a cute little furry.... I miss my cat, who died about 10 years ago aged 16...

Those tiny fishy-shaped catfood biscuits, I used to give to my hammy in small amounts to give him a more balanced diet... I think that's one reason he lived to 3.5, which is about 140 in hamster years!

  7. My sister's cat, the white fluffy one, brings her all sorts of wild beasts. She lays them on the front doorstep as if a gift for my sister! When I visit, I never know what I will find on her front steps!

  12. That's for sure. They all have such different personalities. Hank likes to play ball. If I throw him his little rubber ball, he will bat it back to me. He also chases after a ball and brings it back to me. They are so much fun. Well, except for the dead mouse, that is. Much as I love them to keep mice out of my house, I still don't want to see one dead or alive.

  13. Aside from the ownership of cats for pure enjoyment, rodent control is a plus! Mine love moles and rats and mice - but are content to share the room with our gerbil without doing harm. Peaceful kingdom inside, war on rodents outside.

Rosie is really funny with her toys though. I've never seen a cat do that.

  18. Thanks for the "flash back" i had a cat that was a collector once. He was an expert at stealing bottle caps when nobody was paying attention and had his collection hidden, often under the sofa or large chair. The fun began in the middle of the night because when everyone was asleep....cling cling cling cling...he would bat them around the floor which would wake me up, and when I went to confiscate the bottle cap- poof it disappeared - and if I managed to get it away for him he went to his supply in about 15 minutes and found another of his treasures LOL!

  19. lol yes cats are like that They bring home offerings to thank you for being good to them.
I found out why we used to have so many mice in the house.
One of my neighbors kept the garbage in the garage and wouldn't throw it out so as the garbage piled so did the mice population. When they moved the new owner let the cat out of the bag lol
He had a mountain to clean. In the meantime my cats werealways up in that direction having a field day. lol

  21. Hi Gattina, can I ask your advice about Dutch language again? If you look at today's fishfingers post at mine there's a single paragraph right at the end, under the Youtube screen and I'm wondering whether it makes sense. I checked it through Google translate and was shocked to find (apparently) not a single wrong word (I don't know about the grammar though). E.g. I couldn't remember whether to say was sagen, zagen, seggen, zeggen or what, so I put what I thought it probably would be, which was zeggen and apparently I was right!!! Sorry to go on ~ it's only about 30 words. Sorry if you hurt yourself. I really cannot be responsible if you crack a rib laughing but I heard the Belgian healthcare system is very comprehensive...
    {[;-)...

  22. I have actually heard of cats with "toy boxes" who will get them all out during the day -- and then put them all back IN at night! I've heard of dogs doing it too! None of MINE have ever done that! But I've heard of it!
