THE EXCITING LIFE OF A RETIRED COUPLE

As many of you know we have 5 room tigers and therefore should be mouse free. Theoretically at least. But our cats are different, they kindly bring them home, they are as hospitable as Count Dracula.

Yesterday night I woke up because a bird chirped in my room. I found this rather strange, switched on the light and saw cat Rosie, waving with her tail and looking under a pile of cushions I had thrown on the floor. Now instead of getting up, chasing Rosie away and safe the poor mouse, I thought tomorrow morning the mouse will be gone or I will find her corpse or skeleton one day in an insolite place.

The next morning I saw Rosie running left and right and looking under my wardrobe. I called Mr. G. and declared we still had the mouse in the house. Immediately he started a big saving action. He folded a newspaper to a cone, kneeled on the floor (all bones cracked) and looked together with Rosie under the wardrobe. The mouse was sitting there peacefully and looked at them with its little eyes. Mr. G. asked me to take a broom and chase her out, but in this crucial moment the phone rang and I had to pick it up. When I finished the mouse was gone and Mr. G. swearing in Italian, tried to get up on his feet, he is rusted a bit, but we didn't need a crane or the firemen.

I went shopping. When I came back, the mouse had moved into Mr. G.'s room, under his bed and was this time intensively watched by cat Pookie. Mr. G. kneeled down again to pray and catch the mouse, without any result.

After this exciting morning, we spend a mouseless afternoon. But then came the News and while we watched some clowns who made speaches in the UNO, the mouse suddenly appeared at the door and walked quitely across the room to settle down under an armchair, probably to also watch Khadafi and the other idiot.

and that's what I saw from the sofa, isn't he/she cute ?

meanwhile my cats where sleeping happily and didn't care about the mouse or News.

Mr. G. considered to safe the mouse again, but with the cats around that would probably have turned into a tragedy for the mouse. So we decided for the night to close all living room doors and leave the window door open just the space for a mouse body.

Now the big question is : Is the mouse still in the house, or did it smell the fresh air and went out ?

We decided to keep an eye open. Being retired is a real hard job !

SHOW & TELL

A lot of you know that I have a cat collection. The last time Mr. G. counted them was in spring and he counted around 450 cats. But there is still enough room for others to be added.

and these are the last once I added :

I bought this cute cat doll, it has the size of a doll on a flea market. Mom cat carries her kitten in a litt le bag. The dress is with laces and embroideries. Now it has the place of honor on my bed.

These two I bought at a stand for animals in need, they are quite small and in a kind of plaster. One sits behind my keyboard and the other stretches itself in front of my TV.

Since yesterday we also have a mouse who hides somewhere in my room from my 5 living cats. Sometimes it chirpes like a bird, but I couldn't find it yet. Cat Rosie my mouse serial killer must have brought it in and then forgot ! (to be continued.../...)

She wants to kow :
If you had a WEEK with no obligation and money was no object, what would you do with it?

As I am enjoying eternal vacations with no other obligations then feeding husband and cats, I would only need the money to fulfill my dream. Husband can feed himself and also the five cats, but that he is doing all the time anyway. That's why we don't have skinny cats.

My dream would be to make a cruise up to the Northpole, travelling through the fjords and never know when it is night.

I would make an Adventure Cruise and an Expedition Cruise to Spitsbergen, the largest island in the beautiful Svalbard Archipelago. Spitsbergen is just 965 km (600 miles) from the North Pole itself. I read : Spectacular cliffs dominate the coastline with deep hidden fjords and colourful villages. Plants and migratory birds flourish in this national park, alongside reindeer, seals, arctic foxes and polar bears. Although I don't like snow and winter, this landscape must be like the planet Krypton in Superman. Not only would I be on another planet but also together with cute seals and cuddly ploar bears.

What a dream ! But who knows maybe it becomes true one day. Maybe I have a rich American uncle somewhere who leaves me millions of dollars ?

The central station of Brussels has been enlarged and new accesses and space for shops added.

Before I entered the station I saw something new which hadn't existed before. Just in front of the Novotel, besides the station you can rent a bicycle ! Business men swing your botton on the saddle !

The new entrance which looks very elegant

inside not a lot of people, but a strange atmosphere

There only was a young man training yuggling. There was a lot of space !

When I took a picture of the wooden escalator, the lights made my photo like this

waiting for my train

a look on the other platform

and finally my train arrived

As it is very hard to find a parking space in Brussels' center, I put my car at the Waterloo station and take the train. In 20 min I am in the center with no parking worries.
