WEEKLY WINNERS

More participants here at Sarcastic Mom Weekly winners

I went for a photo hunting and landed up in a little town, very industrial and therefore very ugly. That's why I don't name it. It once had been a very prosperous area with lots of factories which are all closed down today and it looks quite sad.

The canal where once ships transported the goods

The abandonned factories

and the council houses

But there was joy in the air, people prepared the town center for Halloween !

  1. I'm suprised that Europeans celebrate Halloween. I thought it was maisnly a USA thingy. Our younger generation are starting to follow the American tradition but us oldies don't bother much.

  2. Yes, it's starting to look like Halloween here too. Many homes are decorated and kids are all talking about what they will wear!

  4. Ohhhhh WOW! I think Belgium is more dressed for Halloween than the US! This is because it is so new to you! I don't usually decorate at all for it anymore -- but with Luz, now I will again! And even MORE - for Jientje! LOL!

CONGRATULATIONS to you!!! You are the BIG TREASURE CHEST WINNER over at Dr. John's blog! You will have to BAKE saffron buns now! I still need to bake saffron buns too! One day soon - the weather is getting right for it now I think!

  6. It is sad to see the old factories not being used. You could almost imagine the town in better years.
I really liked the kitchen witches that were in the store window.

  8. WE had towns like that in upper Michigan where the mines closed. Some how they survived.

  9. Well, it sorta fitted in right now then, the ugly town and Halloween feeling. A real ghost town ;-)

Oooops, you just reminded me of the fact that Halloween is getting closer...
