WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

This is not a modern colored Klu Klux Klan meeting but people who attended the opera "Aida" in the Verona Arena (Arena di Verona, Italy) a Roman amphitheatre in Verona, Italy, when it started to rain and the performance had to be cancelled !

The Verona Arena is internationally famous for the large-scale opera performances given there. It is one of the best preserved ancient structures of its kind.

In recent times, the Verona Arena has also housed concerts of popular music bands such as The Who, Ennio Morricone, Kiss, Simply Red, Simple Minds, Pearl Jam, Muse, Elton John, Tina Turner and Björk.

  2. Nice picture. Looks like quite an event.

When you mentioned the Klan, I was expecting white hoods :). This photo just captures normal rain gear, nothing too sinister...

  8. Those yellow-clad people look like my old German teacher coming in to our portakabin from a heavy rainstorm ...

Her in her yellow pack-a-mac hair a-straggling, glasses steamed... is emblazoned on my memory for ever ;->...

    She did look a sight!!...

  16. LOL! They're RAIN CAPES!!! Hahaha! Were the close seats really that EMPTY? Or did the people down front get to leave sooner??? That's crazy!

  17. How sad that it had to be canceled. It might have given new meaning to singing in the rain if the opera stars had the stamina of football stars :) Happy WW

  18. I have been there! Hubby took me many years ago when we were on vacation with our little dackel, Shubi. She was so good as we walked all around the arena.

  24. And Ligabue and The Killers (my daughter attended both). It hosted the premiere of the musical "Romeo and Juliet" by Riccardo Cocciante (Mercuzio was the son of my collegue)
I was there many years ago for one spectacular Aida.
