When I looked at my freshly planted petunias, I was surprised that they looked rather skinny especially in the flower pots along the entrance.

At a closer look I saw SNAILS ! Never ever in the 33 years we live in this house I had a snail invation ! And not the naked once, no of course in my garden they had to move in with house, furniture and probably children ! I absolutely have to write a letter to Al Gore and ask for explanation ! Is it the global warming or are these space snails under cover ? Anyway I had to do something before they ate up the whole house and us included !

I declared "WAR " ! and put this snail killing product everywhere !

my skinny petunias attacked by 6 snails, the blue grains are poison (for snails only)

The result this morning was, that I collected around 30 empty snail houses, the corpses probably had melt with the product or went back in their space shuttle. How disgusting ! I am now a snail mass murderer, I, a such peaceful person ! But peace and love with snails doesn't work !

Even our letter box was invaded, and they had eaten up an invoice, which in itself was a nice gesture, but we probably will get a reminder !

and here is my harvest from this morning !

  1. Oh my gosh! They may be slow, but they sure are hungry!

I know I saw a post last year where someone said they had been invaded by snails and had their mail eaten. I wish I could remember who so I could send you to that post. In fact, I would have sworn I read it on your blog, but you've said it never happened to you before, which means I have a hole in my memory as well as my leg! Oh dear!

  3. Why all the snails all of a sudden? Maybe someone's put a curse on your garden...lol. I just used to stand on them and squish them flat. As a little kid, I used to get them from under the plants and have snail races.

  5. Dear Gattina ~~ Thank you so much for your birthday wishes. I hope you have a wonderful trip around Morocco and come back with lots of pics.
I am sorry you have so many snails. I often get a few, but not a real invasion. Have a great holiday, my friend, Love, Merle.

  6. yikes! how could that be, why would they select your home i mean you said you don't really have too much plants and yet they invaded you!

could it be that one of the cats brought a family of snail in one of their walks and now you have a community of them!!

  7. You are in big trouble unless you eliminate them completely...
Snails are hermaphrodites which means that they have both male and female reproductive organs....a destructive force in the garden!!!

  9. Oh WOW! I have never had a snail either! I wouldn't have known WHAT to do about them! I probably wouldn't even have known they were the culprits! I never knew they were ... harmful! I only know the kind you buy to put in aquariums to keep the algae down. That is just WEIRD!

Have SO much fun on your TRIP!!!
