WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

On December 6th the Belgian children get their gifts from Saint Nicholas, it is a very important day especially for the flemish part of the country. The french speaking part celebrates more Christmas.

But what I had never seen in my whole life was a Saint Nicholas who did hitchhiking ! He was standing there at the main street in Waterloo and tried to stop a car !

When he saw me taking the picture he smiled and made me a sign. I never knew if somebody took him, probably yes, I went in the other direction.

Just for your information the real Saint Nicholas looked like this :

The real dude has a Buddha-like look about himself! What a great series, Gattina. I hope Santa gets his sleigh back into action before Dec. 24!

Hi Gattina, Poor saint Nick looks like he is going to get wet before he gets a ride..

Looks like rain! Poor Santa Claus. Hope he got a ride. What happened you wonder? The deer on strike?

I don't do WORDLESS Wednesday any more...I found a blog that does WORDFUL Wednesday and I can actually 'talk' about the photos.

Love this share Gattina. You always come up with great stuff.

Ha! Ha! Saint Nicholas is very well captured by you, Gattina! I had no time these days for blogging because I was walking from shop to shop to prepare Christmas! And now I go to the post office sending to my daughter french sweeties and chocolates she will offer some to her hostfamily!

Great photos, information, and link.

Saint Nicholas hitchhiking - does that mean the the recession has hit him too and he can't buy enough hay to power up the reindeer?

LOL! I would have had to pick him up! I'd be afraid of getting COAL if I left him stand there -- in the RAIN too!

Loved the pictures and the history. Didn't know about December 6 since here Santa Claus comes at Christmas.

A hitch hiking St Nick, what next. I love the beautiful white beards on the modern day St Nick. He's a picture of sartorial Christmas elegance and finery.

To Ms. Gattina

I have read some of your posts. I would like to revisit the same.

If you like short stories and paintings, then a short visit to my blogs would be a good idea.

Santa hitchhiking in the rain. The recession is bad. He can't afford to maintain his sleigh & reindeer .....
