No Fun Monday BUT A FUNNY PARTY

Each year we organize a little Christmas party in our painting course.

These Santas were made by the residents of the retirement home where we have our painting cours on thursday mornings.

It is at the same time the dancing room and room for shows for the residents of the retirement home.

First of course we worked a bit

Then somebody opened the bottles of champagne

Our teacher (left) and the organizing lady (right) started to cut the traditional "Bûches de Noêl" (Christmas logs) In Belgium and France it wouldn't be Christmas without this cake !

the table is prepared

and the Christmas logs ready for us ! One was in chocolate, one with coffee and one with white cream

Standing in line to get a piece

Celine (left) 72 (!)

Ilona (65) here with her part of "log".

It took no time and every package was empty ! We had a lot of fun of course !

and these two ladies made Belgian wafers for the residents in the entrance hall. It smelled delicious everywhere !

  1. Get well soon, Gattina and long time no see.I haven't had the time to blog or read my friends blogs for the longest of time. Have a lot of things going on here-
I'm curious about those Christmas cakes, are they normal cakes just shaped into logs or they also have something christmassy in it ? like the lebkuchen with spices etc. here in germany.
Merry Christmas in advance,in case I won't be able to drop by again.

  4. Love the idea you've your painting lessons at the residents' place. It is a nice thing for them to have an opened door on the outside! I hope we will do the same thing in France! This is a great idea! Mamie Margueritte a fait son entrée en maison de retraite mardi dernier. C'est super parce que ma belle soeur travaille juste à la maison de repos située juste à côté et elle connait tout le personnel. Sounds you had a lot of fun, all!

  11. What a great activity Gattina--the seniors are not just passive observors but instead are the artists. Did they each create their version of the Claus with wreath over his arm?

I see by some of the comments that you haven't been feeling well lately. Hope you're on the mend this close to the holidays. Hope you have a wonderful celebration. All the best to you and your family, Gattina.
