MANIC MONDAY - BUD

MANIC MONDAY LINK

I find the Manic Monday word "bud" quite difficult ! For me a bud is a flower to be, but my botanical knowledge stops here. As I am not a man I don't have any buds or buddies. The only Bud I know is Bud Spencer, an Italian actor who played in a lot of "Spaghetti Western".

Before he started his career as an actor, he was a successful swimmer in his youth. Bud Spencer was the first Italian to swim the 100 m freestyle in less than one minute. He participated in the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, Finland, reaching the semi-finals in the 100 m freestyle. Four years later, in Melbourne, he also entered the semi-finals in the same category.

He then met Terence Hill, with whom he made a large number of Italian Westerns and other films together from 1968 until 1994.
Bud Spencer's film career slowed down after 1983, shifting more toward television. In the 1990s he acted in the TV action-drama "Extralarge". The only thing I really remember was that he always used his flat hand to hit his ennemies in the face and they all immediately fell down unconscious. It was never only one aggressor but at least 5 or 6 at once and he just "wiped" them out.

  5. I ran across Bud Spencer when I was looking into what I'd write for "bud" for Manic Monday, Gattina. Glad you liked "Bud and his Travels." Maybe I'll write some more about him.
