Arthur on the roof

We had the roof of our garden shed replaced because it was rotten. Now what to do with the old rotten pieces ? Mr. Gattino brought them to a special waste dump. The guy there had a look on the pieces and declared that they couldn't take it because it was toxic ! First news ! For 30 years we had a toxic roof ! (and my cats all survived ??) Mr. Gattino came back with the rubbish. Then he called private depots. Nothing to do, they all refused. Finally he found one who agreed but first they had to look at it and then decide if they would take it or not ! So 30 km driving for eventually nothing. Then we have to buy special plastic bags at 10 € (15 $) each and put it in. 30 km driving again to get rid of it.

Now can you understand why so many people just dump their waste somewhere in the nature ? And you should keep the planet clean ? Being clean and ecological means then belonging to the rich !

  1. hello gattina, i'm back again, after being offline for 3 weeks, that felt like forever. i know what you mean with taking care of your garbage. it is so confusing taking care of all that rubbish, even if we have this whole year calendar with all the schedule and classication from the city hall. they don't cover all! you are right - waste management is more for rich people or affluent countries. back in my home country, people just put them all in one bag and if the the garbage collector gets them in time - you should be happy about it.

  2. Gday Gattina, We all have recycle bins here and so many do's and dont's. so what cant go into recycle goes in to rubbish collection bins..the councils a real pain in the rear.

  3. Hubby went to our recycling center last week and found a man trying to bring in a fridge to recycle. They would not accept it because IT STILL WORKED!!!!! So Hubby says "I will take it". and he brings it home wipes it down and we find it is only two years old and works perfectly!!!!!

  5. Great cartoon! What on earth is the toxin that everyone's so scared of it?!

I came to look at your glass and forgot! Will have to go back and check it out.

  6. You are so right, how many people would be as nice as you and your husband and go to all that trouble when they could sneak and dump it somewhere? But good for you for doing it the proper way, I just don't see how it could be so toxic. I love Arthur's picture on the roof!

  7. you should have chopped it into smaller pieces, wrapped them in festive paper, and started leaving them in your unlocked car on a busy street.

  8. By "toxic" I am guessing the roof was the old asbestos stuff ... this is toxic, and totally banned here these days (although they still find it in old buildings when doing renovations).
Arthur looks very handsome on the roof.
    Take care, Meow
